Product suggestions and product selection
We monitor the market and our competitors. That means being aware of individual products and product ranges, quality and price levels, emerging trends and all the latest developments in colour and design. We then use this information to identify products which have a high level of commercial potential. We make product suggestions and discuss them with buyers. We check feasibility and prices and produce offers. We can also offer the option of product customisation.
We can customise products to suit the needs of our customers by, for example, supplying items in corporate colours. We take good products and develop them further – we improve individual features, add useful new ones and put together interesting packages – thus we can make our products attractive to innovation-oriented buyers or, by giving a particular product a facelift, can extend its life cycle.
New product development
There is a whole world of ideas for products out there, just waiting to be realised – which is where we come in. We decided to use our own ideas, and those of our partners, to develop innovative new products. We manage the entire process from the initial concept, drawings and prototyping, through to choosing who will produce the product, the tools required, the production process itself, logistics and market positioning.
We can advise on positioning, highlight the special strengths and qualities of individual products and compile a list of their respective unique selling points (USPs). We can put together promotional material which is geared to a specific target group or tailored to suit a particular distribution channel. Within the teleshopping segment we can deliver concepts for presenting the products to best effect and will provide a brief for both the presenter and his/her guest.
Monitoring the market and competitors
A fundamental part of our work involves monitoring the market and our competitors. This needs to be undertaken carefully and thoroughly in order that we can make appropriate product suggestions and selections and develop new product ranges. We then build on these detailed analyses of key products and players – in stationary retail, discount stores and in multi-media-based distance selling.
Product range development
We provide buyers with support in category management. Based on an evaluation and comparison of existing product ranges we are able to develop suitable additional products to complement those ranges. We can also offer ideas for product direction and make suggestions for the design of new ranges. At the realisation stage, we supply selected products at the right price and can put together an appropriate sales promotion strategy.
As part of the procurement process we will discuss product samples with our customers’ quality control teams. We comply with all necessary certification requirements. We ensure production quality through vigorous inspections. We may request a sample during the current production process or before goods are released for shipment.
In order to ensure that the goods we supply reach the expected standard, all orders – whether first-time or repeats – are subject to inspection by DEKRA, HQTS or SGS – according to Accepted Quality Levels II or III. Only goods which are proven to comply with AQLs are released for loading and delivery.
We identify and use national and international suppliers who fulfil both our own stringent criteria and those of our partners. We exploit our well-established network, built up over years of commercial trading, to help us source the right supply centres quickly and efficiently.
We organise the transportation of goods from factory to warehouse (with partners Schenker) and take care of all customs clearance procedures for our customers, including bills of lading.
We have a Plan B. If, despite all precautions, there is a problem with the quality of a product or its packaging, we will re-work the consignment and restore the items to a saleable condition.
